About nume

nume is a smart mortgage app that helps UK homeowners compare overpaying their mortgage with investing the money instead, side by side. It was co-founded by Asis Tewari, who spent over 14 years in banking.

Why I started nume

I'm Asis Tewari, co-founder of nume. I spent over 14 years in banking, and before that I was a mortgage broker in Australia. I kept meeting the same homeowner: wealthy on paper, with very little they could reach.

When homeowners have spare money each month, many ask whether to overpay their mortgage or invest. Few had seen the two choices next to each other. So we built the thing that does.

What nume does

nume shows both options side by side, so you can see what each could mean for you. You keep paying your lender as normal. Try our calculator to compare them, and we can email you your results.

What nume does not do

nume does not give personal advice. It gives you the numbers, so you can make the call and explain it to your other half.

The people behind nume

We come from banking, payments and investment management. Between us we have built trading platforms at Barclays, run data teams in payments, and managed index-based portfolios.

Recognition

nume was the winner of Innovate Finance’s Pitch360 in London in 2025 and was developed at the London Business School Entrepreneurship Summer School. Investments are held with Interactive Brokers.

Capital at risk. Investments can fall as well as rise and you may get back less than you invest. Diversification does not remove the risk of loss. Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on your mortgage.
